The “Sternogem” Miniature Gramophone.

When I first came across a “Sternogem” gramophone to repair I was at a loss to see how it could fit into the specially designed case. Eventually I realised that this must be an example of the only gramophone in which the sound-box it attached in such a way that the diaphragm side faces towards the centre of the record. Once that was sorted the component parts fit nicely into the case and  the gramophone has a stylish and original design.
There is a good sized motor, a tone-arm with goose neck turn-over and spider turntable. The sound is directed from the tone-arm into the curved aluminium lid in a manner reminiscent of the Decca “reflex” system.

I can find very little information about the history of the “Sternogem” gramophone, but there are some U-tube clips of it playing well so there must be a few in circulation.
