This is genuine horned gramophone from just before the First World War. c.1912.
I have seen "Selecta" gramophones in all forms; portables, table models and cabinet models. They are all well made with good design and they usually perform well. However this is the first Selecta that I have seen with an external horn. the design of the horn is unusual. The horn is metal with no embossing, and is painted the resemble a wooden finish. The paintwork has suffered some wear, but it is in un-restored condition and the decoration is still well defined on the inside.
The gramophone has its original sound-box and a 12" turntable. The motor-board is hinged at the back and opens to reveal a double spring motor.
