HMV No.109 Table Model.

109.

Here is an HMV table gramophone from the 1920s.

The two most popular table machines from this period were the HMV 103 abd 109 gramophones. They were very similar in appearance, but the 109 had a superior double spring No.32 motor. The Model 103 had a single spring motor. Both machines were fitted with the No.4 sound-box. the gramophone illustrated is a mahogany 109 in good condition. These machines has two small doors at the front hiding the internal horn and could be used to control the volume.

If you have room for a table model like this, it is a reliable gramophone giving a good quality of sound as the wooden case provides more resonance.

The price includes the cost of carriage by Interlink Express, but there is always a risk, especially with wooden cased gramophones, that damage might occur in transit. Portable machines seem to travel well, but cabinets sometimes have their joints loosened when parcels are dropped!
